Waitomo Caves New Zealand

Our travel itinerary took us down to Waitomo Caves for a guided walk and boat ride through the world famous limestone and glowworm caves.

This was an absolutely awesome experience and as it was out of the main holiday season there wasn't too many other tourists around.

The Waitomo Caves are an approximate 2 hour drive south of Auckland. Take State Highway 1 to Hamilton, then a 1 hour drive south from Hamilton on State Highway 3, the Waitomo Glowworm Caves can be found 8km down Waitomo Caves Road, off Highway 3 (2 hours to the west of Rotorua).

These Waitomo region attractions include the Ruakuri Cave, Aranui Cave, and the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves.

All of these ancient caves of limestone formations, rivers, waterfalls, and glow-worms provide unique and unforgettable experiences.
